Shopping At Thrift Stores Is Fashionable?

Have you ever been to your local thrift store? Whether it's a national chain like Goodwill or a local consignment shop, you can find some really good deals! Now, I know what you're thinking... all you ever find at thrift stores is stuff that's all worn out that nobody wants anymore. Well, you're half right. It's stuff that someone didn't want anymore, but that doesn't mean it's all worn out.

You see, there are plenty of scenarios where people take clothes to a thrift store. Sometimes it's because their kids are growing so quickly that they've simply outgrown their current stuff. Sometimes it's because someone has gone on a diet and lost a bunch of weight. Sometimes it's just the reverse - someone has gained a bunch of weight and can no longer fit into those size 2 Tommy Hilfiger jeans. I've found that shopping at the Goodwill in the nicer areas of town have netted some really nice clothes for pennies on the dollar of what they would cost new.

Some examples of what I've found include: Armani suits, Tommy Hilfiger jeans, Nautica shirts and jeans, Nine West shoes and much much more! In fact, some of the stuff you'll find there has never even been worn. I recently saw a few Reebok shirts that still had the tags and stickers on them!

Not only is shopping at a thrift store easy on your wallet, but it's better for the environment too! Think about how much less new clothing would need to be made. That reduces the making of new materials, shipping costs and pollution (since much of it is shipped by container ships thousands of miles across the sea), and then trucking it hundreds of miles across country to the various stores. Thrift stores and consignment shops keep clothing local to where they were purchased.

So go find your nearest thrift store or consignment shop today and see what kind of deals you can find. Hunting is part of the fun!
